Revolutionizing Politics: DM Chief Proposes Game-Changing Reforms to Put Citizens First

A German politician, Christoph Werner, has proposed four reforms in an opinion piece for the Handelsblatt, aiming to improve the way politics addresses the needs of citizens. One of the suggestions is to extend the legislative period from four to six years, allowing for more time to implement fundamental reforms before being dismantled in the subsequent election campaign.

Werner also recommends limiting the terms of office for parliamentary and executive positions to two periods, which he believes would allow more people from outside the political sphere to enter into public office, leading to more movement within parties and a more representative composition of parliaments.

Additionally, Werner suggests adjusting the legislative allowances and making all laws time-limited. Instead of constantly enacting new laws, the existing legislation would be continuously updated, he argues.

The underlying goal of these proposals is to improve the understanding between politics and citizens. Werner claims that the current situation is the opposite, with parties focusing too much on themselves and too little on the people who make up the sovereign of the country. He believes that laws are increasingly restrictive, rather than enabling and that this needs to change.
