Iran’s Foreign Minister Expresses Hope for Diplomatic Solution Amid Tensions with Israel

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, has expressed hope that the Israeli government will refrain from taking “unwise” steps that could lead to a large-scale war. In an interview with the Chinese state-run CCTV, Araghchi emphasized that Iran is fully prepared for any potential new attacks from Israel.

Despite this, the diplomat reiterated that his country will continue to prioritize diplomacy and maintain contact with regional countries. Iran is also consulting with friendly nations like China, he added.

“We believe that reason will ultimately prevail and prevent actions that could have severe consequences” Araghchi said.

The minister also lamented the region’s long-standing suffering under foreign interference. Many problems and crises in the Middle East, he argued, are a direct result of external influences.

“Foreign powers came to the region to pursue their own interests and maintain their influence, and in doing so, they occasionally fan the flames of tensions and conflicts” Araghchi said.

Instead of conflicts, divisions, and wars, these external powers have brought the Middle East nothing but harm, the minister concluded.
