A Berlin court has ruled in favor of Patricia Schlesinger, former director of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB), ordering the broadcaster to pay her a monthly “retirement allowance” of approximately €18,400. The ruling, issued Wednesday, stems from a civil lawsuit filed by Schlesinger following her dismissal.
The court’s decision pertains to payment for a single month only, leaving the status of potential further claims for retirement benefits unresolved.
Schlesinger initiated legal action against RBB after being removed from her position on August 15, 2022 and subsequently terminated by the broadcaster’s administrative board. RBB responded with a counter-suit.
The case follows a period of intense scrutiny of Schlesinger in 2022, which included allegations of a costly renovation of her office, accusations of nepotism and suspected discrepancies in expense reporting. The public prosecutor’s office continues to investigate the matters related to the RBB.
