Former Minister-President of Thuringia, Bodo Ramelow, the Linke candidate for the Bundestag, does not aim for government involvement despite the rising popularity of his party. “For us, the upcoming Bundestag election is not about any configurations we might be a part of or want to be” said the Linken politician in an interview with the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” (Wednesday editions). “Our slogan is clear and unambiguous: everyone wants to govern, we want to change.”
The party’s focus is on “issues”, Ramelow stated, adding that they are willing to bring these “into the Bundestag”. “If it then succeeds in coming to good solutions with others, we will also agree” he said. He cited examples such as the introduction of a child basic security, a joint education project, a modern public health insurance, increased inheritance tax and the reintroduction of a wealth tax.
