Radio Row: Trial of RBB Ex-Chief Schlesinger Delayed

Berlin’s Regional Court has begun the trial between the RBB and its former Intendant, Patricia Schlesinger, on Wednesday. The first day of the trial ended without a result. Both parties have shown an openness to a mediation procedure.

After her dismissal on August 15, 2022, and her contract being terminated without notice by the administration board, Schlesinger had sued the broadcaster for a severance package. The broadcaster responded with a counterclaim, which, according to the news portal of the broadcaster, now extends to “all bonus payments made since 2019, as well as an ARD allowance for the management and senior staff.” The broadcaster also aims to hold Schlesinger liable for the costs of the stalled “Digital Media House” project.

Schlesinger was in the spotlight for weeks in 2022, facing criticism over a costly renovation of her former office space, alleged nepotism, and reportedly false accounting.
