The Federal Police are welcoming proposed measures within the Interior Ministry’s budget.
Andreas Roßkopf, chairman of the Police Union for the Federal Police sector, stated to the Bayern Media Group that the planned increase in the budget for the Federal Police, from 4.19 billion euros in 2024 to over 4.9 billion euros for the 2025 fiscal year, allows for necessary and critical investments. He emphasized the immediate need to bolster equipment specifically for border controls.
Roßkopf highlighted the importance of modernizing the Federal Police’s resources, beginning with a comprehensive upgrade of its vehicle fleet and the procurement of modern medium-range weaponry. He explained that the budgetary increase provides the authority with indispensable room for maneuver, essential for developing the Federal Police into a modern and future-proof organization.
The union also expressed approval of the proposed addition of 1,000 positions. “These 1,000 additional roles present opportunities to ensure appropriate staffing levels” Roßkopf stated. The expanding demands placed on the Federal Police necessitate increased personnel to meet evolving operational requirements.
