According to information from the Bild-Zeitung, a man who has not yet been identified in Berlin’s Charlottenburg district allegedly threatened passersby with a knife in the Knobelsdorffstraße. The police were alerted and began pursuing the suspect. The newspaper reports that the suspect then fled towards the Sophie-Charlotte-Platz subway station. Although the police were already on the scene, they were unable to prevent the knife attack. At the subway station, the suspect allegedly attacked a passerby with a knife, resulting in their severe injury and subsequent death. The police were eventually able to locate the suspect near the Schloßstraße. When he realized the police were present, the suspect allegedly threatened them with his knife. One of the officers then used their firearm, hitting the suspect in the upper body. According to a nearby resident, four shots were fired. The severely injured suspect was treated by emergency responders from the fire department and later transported to a hospital. The rbb reported that initially, two men had gotten into an altercation at the Sophie-Charlotte-Platz subway station, with one stabbing the other. The victim died on the spot from their injuries. Due to the large police and rescue operation, the U12 subway line was temporarily suspended between the stations Theodor-Heuss-Platz and Deutsche Oper, with buses providing a temporary replacement service.
