The Bundesliga clubs’ contribution to police costs at high-risk matches is likely to be a topic of discussion at the Innenministerkonferenz (IMK) in Bremerhaven on June 5 and 6. This was stated by a spokesperson for Bremen’s Interior Senator Ulrich Mäurer (SPD), who had appealed the Constitutional Court’s ruling and currently chairs the IMK.
“It is to be expected that this topic will occupy us at the IMK in Bremerhaven” he said, adding, “The IMK chairperson does not decide on the agenda alone; it is always a matter of all participants.” Initially, there is still a need for clarification and coordination following the court’s ruling.
The Karlsruhe judges had declared, after a prolonged legal battle, that the cost-sharing practice in Bremen for such matches is lawful.
