Police Believe It Was an Accident, Not a Deliberate Attack

In Stuttgart, on Friday evening, a vehicle collided with a group of people, resulting in the death of a 46-year-old woman due to her injuries. The police and the state prosecutor’s office confirmed this in the evening. The investigators are currently assuming it was an accident. “At the current stage of investigation, there are currently no indications that suggest a deliberate act of violence or a terrorist attack” a statement said. According to the authorities, at around 17:50, a 42-year-old man driving a black off-road vehicle, a Mercedes G-Class, crashed into a group of people on Charlottenstraße, resulting in eight people being injured, three of whom were severely injured. One person had to be resuscitated at the scene. The driver was initially arrested. The incident immediately brought to mind similar attacks in recent months, where attackers intentionally drove into crowds of people, resulting in multiple fatalities in cities like Magdeburg and Munich.
