Party Chief Warns of Catastrophic Consequences

Grünen-Chair Felix Banaszak has warned of a potential split in society after the violence in Aschaffenburg. “One has the responsibility to ensure enlightenment, but also to prevent a split”he said on Sunday at the party convention in Berlin. “Pain and grief know no nationality”he added. “Just as the pain affects us all, so does the responsibility.”

He didn’t know the name of the two-year-old boy who was killed and didn’t know if it was a German or Moroccan name, Banaszak said. “However, I know that the pain must be immeasurable.”This pain runs like a rift through the urban societies. “We all strive for security, because the loss of security is always also a loss of freedom”the party chairman said.

From the CDU’s chancellor candidate, Friedrich Merz, Banaszak demanded that he clearly distance himself from the AfD. The CDU chairman had recently said that it didn’t matter to him who agreed with his migration policies and that he was no longer compromising on the field.
