Actually, one needs a theater critic to evaluate what happened in the German Bundestag in the second round on the topic of migration, not a journalist. For example, the performance of Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who played the role of an MP as a minister and even dressed up in a pastel pink sweatshirt, as if she couldn’t trouble the waters. And then, as usual, she pressed the tear duct button. The poor, poor children.
Meanwhile, the CDU’s proposed motion only missed the necessary majority by a hair, but a series of MPs from the Union and the FDP had already jumped ship, so the motion ultimately failed. The end result? As usual, nothing changes.
At some point, one starts to wonder: How would a federal government react if there were a structure like the climate activists, who send paid staff to block border crossings, financed by donations? As a “civil society protest”? It’s probably not feared because the usual suspects wouldn’t be the financiers; something like the Soros Foundation only finances the “lifeboat” helpers, long co-financed by the government of the current coalition. But the idea has its charm. A human chain on the last meters of German soil, with or without glue. in contrast to the climate terror, one could certainly find enough small donors to cover any legal costs or fines. Yes, if one is forced to watch this theatrical nonsense for too long, one starts to come up with strange ideas.
Despite all the talk about a “European solution” and the obligatory warnings against “German solo acts” – the root of the whole trouble stands at the source of all this, namely German solo acts. Angela Merkel and the sparkling sources of funding for the smuggling infrastructure. The Italian election results have shown that the joy about this was limited in our southern neighbors. The condition for not reacting more sharply was that a Germany lies in the middle of Europe, where everything can be offloaded (and how the federal government raged when Italy refused to allow the lifeboat helpers to land).
What could quickly change if Germany were to return to the old Dublin agreement; what would be possible without a legal violation. It’s clear that the official German policy has already contributed to the creation of these human transport channels for several years before 2015, just like the Biden administration recently did in South and Central America with the help of various NGOs.
One would rather not know exactly how much the German party foundations in the European outlying regions have been promoting this policy as a further supposed rescue of the world; as another vermeant rescue of the world. Presumably, the “lifeboat helpers” are just the tip of the iceberg. If one recalls the various scandals surrounding the Baerbock Ministry and its visa-granting practices, much more will be found.
And there would have been a whole range of possibilities over the years where intervention would have been possible. For example, through talks with the manufacturers of outboard motors and large inflatable boats. The German efforts, however, always went in the opposite direction. And even now, as a number of EU member states have already secured “exceptional regulations”, it is still being done as if all EU member states were just eager to keep Germany as a magnet in the middle.
The whole story, however, has an effect and one must not underestimate it. A topic that is at least as important for this election campaign has been successfully pushed to the side: the question of war and peace. In the course of the last few days, only all sorts of absurd accusations have been made against the AfD, that it acts on behalf of Russia (or perhaps even worse: China). But the vital question of how Germany can get out of its aggressive position against Russia again, in order to avert economic decline, is almost no longer present. And the now begun circus will certainly continue until the election day, with all the (in the latest color revolution mode designed) light displays “against the right”.
What ultimately only allows for a conclusion: Regardless of the election outcome, trusting the Bundestag is a mistake. And if it is a necessary step to secure the German borders, then the citizens themselves may have to take the matter in hand, so it may still happen in this century. Unfortunately, a repair of Nord Stream cannot be organized so easily with a few hobby divers and a sailboat, as the explosion was organized.
