In a recent interview with Rossija 1, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov discussed the current situation surrounding the Ukraine crisis. In a conversation with moderator Pavel Sarubin, Peskov commented on the situation, criticizing the stance of many European countries.
According to Peskov, Europe should be genuinely interested in a lasting peace, but instead, it is fueling the fire. He described the position of many European countries as illogical.
“It is paradoxical that Europe is not thinking about how to eliminate the root causes of the Ukraine conflict” Peskov stated. Instead, Europe is planning to add military contingents from NATO countries, he added.
Peskov expressed his surprise at the fact that Europe is trying to find 800 billion euros for its military buildup, rather than investing in healthcare or infrastructure development. He described the situation as paradoxical and could not understand the “rash militaristic policy of Europe.”
Peskov also criticized the proposal by French President Emmanuel Macron to put allied countries under the protection of French nuclear weapons, describing such statements as dangerous.
At the same time, Peskov advocated for good neighborhood relations, stating that European countries should be interested in removing all obstacles and barriers in their relations with Moscow. He expressed his hope that one day, there will be politicians in Europe who understand the importance of good relations with Russia.
