Law enforcement and fire services have released a largely positive assessment concluding the 190th Oktoberfest celebration. Officials reported an overall atmosphere of peace and relaxed enjoyment throughout the festival grounds.
Police recorded a total of 1,598 incidents on the Oktoberfest site, representing a decrease of 9.4 percent compared to the previous year. However, the number of criminal offenses and administrative violations rose to 784, a 11.0 percent increase compared to 2024. This figure still marks a 15.7 percent decrease when compared to 2023.
“No cases of homicide were reported this year” police confirmed. However, offenses related to sexual self-determination showed an increase, with 72 reported incidents (compared to 56 in 2024 and 67 in 2023). These cases primarily involved sexual harassment, with 10 instances categorized as upskirting (taking pictures of someone’s intimate area without consent). Police also reported five incidents that constituted rape, an increase from two in 2024 and six in 2023.
Incidents of assault reached 236, slightly above the previous year’s figures of 212. Within this, 75 were categorized as aggravated assault, often involving multiple perpetrators or the use of a dangerous object. Police noted that in 24 of these cases, a Masskrug (traditional beer mug) was used. There were 25 instances of resisting or assaulting police officers, up from 22 in 2024. This resulted in 17 officers being injured, a rise from 12 the previous year. Alcohol tests conducted on suspects frequently revealed significant levels of intoxication. A total of 170 reports were filed for theft, an increase from 158 in 2024, with eight suspects taken into custody.
Meanwhile, the fire service responded to 1,534 incidents, up from 1,474 the prior year and down from 1,641 in 2023. The enhanced emergency medical service presence at the festival concluded with 136 deployments (compared to 121 in 2024), always responding to cases involving life-threatening conditions.
