Nvidia's AI Dreams Crash to Earth

US stock markets declined on Tuesday. At the close of trading in New York, the Dow was calculated at 42,528 points, a minus of 0.4% compared to the previous trading day.

Minutes earlier, the broader S&P 500 was around 5,905 points, down 1.1%, and the Nasdaq, the technology stock market, was around 21,175 points, down 1.8%.

Investors were weighing the implications of “Artificial Intelligence” (AI) on the economy more heavily on Tuesday. To kick off the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Nvidia, a heavyweight in AI, presented its plans. The chip designer plans to see its Blackwell architecture in all data centers worldwide in the future, but did not provide updates on central new developments. Nvidia’s stock fell significantly.

The European common currency was weaker on Tuesday evening: one euro cost 1.0344 US dollars, and one dollar was worth 0.9667 euros.

Gold was able to profit, with a price of 2,650 US dollars per fine ounce (+0.5%) at night, equivalent to 82.37 euros per gram.

Meanwhile, the oil price rose: a barrel of the North Sea’s Brent type cost around 22:00 German time on Tuesday evening at 77.05 US dollars, an increase of 75 cents or 1.0% from the previous trading day’s close.
