German Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU) doesn’t support the 35-hour workweek, as some company CEOs are demanding. “I won’t get fooled on this issue again” he told the “Rheinische Post”.
“I’m a burned child. As a member of the Bundestag, I once voted for their introduction” said Laumann. “Then, IG Metall, with the approval of the employers, abolished the 35-hour workweek through a collective agreement for their industries.” He swore to himself that he would not make the same mistake again on this issue.
