Norway’s Labour Party Claims Victory

The ruling party of Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre has emerged victorious in Norway’s parliamentary elections. Preliminary results from the electoral authority indicate Støre’s party secured 28.2 percent of the votes.

The center-left bloc, led by Støre’s Labour Party, is projected to hold 87 of the 169 seats in parliament. The center-right coalition has secured 82 seats. Notably, the Progress Party, positioned on the right of the political spectrum, achieved its highest-ever election result, garnering 23.9 percent of the vote.

It is anticipated that Støre will continue as Prime Minister, leading a minority government and requiring the support of other parliamentary parties to maintain governance.
