In a thrilling Formula One race in Spielberg, Austria, Lando Norris of McLaren secured the win, with his teammate Oscar Piastri taking second place and Charles Leclerc of Ferrari completing the podium.
Throughout the race, the two McLaren drivers engaged in a captivating duel, with Norris starting from the pole position and initially maintaining his lead, while Piastri, who began from third, quickly moved up to second place. The two teammates then exchanged several intense overtaking maneuvers, with Piastri consistently applying pressure on Norris, ultimately ending in the British driver’s favor.
In a contrasting performance, Max Verstappen, the reigning champion, had a forgettable race, forced to retire after a collision with Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes in the first lap, following a mistake by Antonelli that sent Verstappen careening off the track.
The top six finishers, aside from the podium, were Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari, George Russell of Mercedes, Liam Lawson of Racing Bulls, Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin and Gabriel Bortoleto of Sauber, who all secured points. Nico Hülkenberg of Sauber, the only German driver, took ninth place and two points for the championship, while Esteban Ocon of Haas claimed the tenth spot and a single point.
