The order situation in the construction of apartments remains tense. 53.6 percent of the companies reported a lack of orders in December, after 54.0 percent in November, the Ifo Institute reported on Friday in Munich.
“The structural problems in the construction of apartments remain” said Klaus Wohlrabe, head of the Ifo surveys. “The new federal government faces great challenges in creating the urgently needed living space.”
The business climate in the construction of apartments has slightly improved, but remains clearly in the negative range. The companies evaluate both their current business situation and their future prospects slightly less pessimistically than in November.
The share of order cancellations has declined and is now at 10 percent. “The fallen interest rates are not enough so far to initiate a sustainable trend reversal in the construction of apartments” Wohlrabe added.
