British Military Intelligence Estimates Russia’s 2024 Losses in Ukraine War to be the Highest to Date

According to the British military intelligence, 2024 has been the most devastating year for Russian troops in the Ukraine war so far, with an estimated 429,660 losses. This includes both killed and wounded, as reported in the daily situation report from London. The intelligence agency cites the Ukrainian General Staff for the information. This number would represent a significant increase compared to the 252,940 losses in 2023. Since the start of the conflict, Russia is estimated to have suffered over 790,000 losses, according to the intelligence agency.

December 2024 was reportedly the most costly month for Russia, with a total of 48,670 killed and wounded, according to the Ukrainian General Staff, the report states. The previous month saw 45,680 losses. At the same time, the report notes that December marked the sixth consecutive month in which the Russian military recorded an increase in monthly overall losses.
