A recent Ipsos poll has shown a significant shift in voter intentions, with the CDU/CSU and the Left party gaining ground, while the SPD and AfD experience losses. According to the poll, the CDU/CSU now holds a clear lead with 31 percent of the vote, a two percent increase since the last poll in January. The AfD, on the other hand, has lost one percent and now stands at 20 percent of the vote. The SPD has also lost a percent and now receives 15 percent of the vote, while the Greens remain stable at 13 percent.
The Left party, in a surprise turn of events, has almost doubled its voter support and is now at 7 percent, a three percent increase, which would allow it to re-enter the Bundestag. The FDP and the BSW, on the other hand, are struggling to reach the five percent threshold, with the FDP at 4.5 percent, a half percent increase and the BSW at 4.5 percent, a half percent decrease.
The poll, conducted by Ipsos, surveyed 2,000 eligible voters in Germany from February 12 to 19, using a combination of online and telephone interviews.
