Konstantin Kuhle, the FDP’s Deputy Faction Leader, brings a parliamentary inquiry into the Magdeburg terror attack into play.

Kuhle told the “Stern”: “I see a parliamentary inquiry into the Magdeburg attack as a possible way.” It is important that the parliamentary inquiry does not end with the federal election on February 23.

“The next German Bundestag will have to decide on the question of a parliamentary inquiry” Kuhle said. After the attack on the Breitscheidplatz, this “added value” was delivered. The FDP’s interior policy expert criticized that the federal ministry of the interior has not been able to tell the members of parliament how many official contacts the perpetrator had.

As a consequence, he demanded a reform of federalism in internal security. “If state interior ministers, agency heads, and federal ministers are not able to answer concrete questions about an attack without first describing why they are not responsible, then this makes people justifiably angry.” There were many positions that had set up procedures for the perpetrator, but there was not sufficient exchange of information.
