After the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck in front of the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, investigators now believe the occupant took his own life before the detonation.
The person had a headshot wound, the police reported. Two pistols, an ID, a military ID, and credit cards were found in the vehicle, according to the police. The car was also loaded with firecrackers and gasoline canisters.
The person in the car has been identified as a relative of a US special unit. The 37-year-old had previously been stationed in Germany, it was said further. Because the man’s body was burned beyond recognition, the police had to wait for the results of a DNA analysis to confirm the identity.
As of the current knowledge, there is no connection seen by the investigators between the Tesla explosion and the fatal car attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Eve. The explosion in Las Vegas occurred a few hours after an ex-US soldier drove a pick-up into a crowd in New Orleans, killing at least 15 people.
