Preußen Münster secured their first victory of the 2. Bundesliga season, overcoming 1. FC Nürnberg with a 2-1 result, while SV Elversberg clinched a late 2-1 win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the third matchday fixtures.
The encounter in Münster unfolded as a game of two halves. The hosts demonstrated clinical finishing in the first period, with Oliver Batista-Meier opening the scoring in the 32nd minute, followed by a goal from Marvin Schulz just before halftime, extending their lead to 2-0. Nürnberg pressed for a response after the break and managed to pull one back through Rafael Lubach in the 74th minute. However, despite numerous opportunities, the Franconian side were unable to salvage a point.
Elversberg’s victory was decided in the dying moments of the match. The Saarland-based team took the lead through Luca Schnellbacher shortly before halftime. Following a hard-fought second half, Richmond Tachie leveled the score for Kaiserslautern with a 79th-minute penalty. Just as a draw seemed inevitable, Frederik Schmahl secured the win for Elversberg with a goal in the second minute of added time.
These results see Elversberg climb into mid-table, while Kaiserslautern face increasing pressure following their second defeat. Nürnberg currently find themselves in a challenging period, while Münster will be buoyed by their first win of the season.
