A car drove into a crowd of people gathered for a Verdi union rally in Munich, according to the police, with preliminary reports indicating that 15 people were injured.
It remains unclear whether the incident was an accident or a deliberate act. The police stated that the driver, who is currently being held at the scene, does not pose a threat at the moment and that a large number of police forces are on the site.
An eyewitness told BR24 that the car was intentionally driven into the crowd. Additionally, witnesses described two men, one of whom was shot by the police and taken away. The police have only asked that speculations be avoided in this regard.
“I was walking with the demonstration group” another eyewitness described to BR. “As the car drove into the crowd, I ran over and ‘saw a man lying under the car. Then I tried to open the door, but it was locked.’ Eventually, the police arrived and shot at the car window, so I retreated and attended to the injured.
