Munich Airport Grounds Flights Again

Munich Airport suspended flight operations late Friday evening following reported drone sightings in the vicinity of the airport grounds. The decision, made by the German Air Traffic Control (DFS), mirrors similar actions taken the previous evening.

Airport officials confirmed the suspension was a precautionary measure and remains in effect until further notice. Safety of passengers remains the top priority during suspected drone sightings, they stated.

The incident follows a similar disruption on Thursday evening, which brought operations to a standstill for several hours, impacting thousands of passengers. Numerous flights were cancelled or diverted to alternative airports.

The origin of the suspected drone activity is currently unknown and neither the drone devices nor any individuals responsible have been identified. Detection and defense against drones is the responsibility of federal and state police forces, according to the airport’s statement.
