An investigation is underway after the body of a 26-year-old Russian FSB officer, Vladimir Feschtschenko, was found in the Defense Ministry building in Moscow on January 13, with a gunshot wound. Feschtschenko was a Russian Master in kettlebell lifting.
According to Russian media, FSB officers and military investigators immediately arrived at the crime scene. The law enforcement agencies are continuing to clarify the details and circumstances of the case.
It is believed that Feschtschenko suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of a conflict. A source familiar with the investigation, speaking to the RBK media outlet, said that the primary hypothesis is that the shooting was an accidental crime, with Feschtschenko struck by a bullet in the head. The report states: “It is not ruled out that the shot was fired in the course of a dispute between two men.”
TASS news agency reported that the suspect has already been detained, and a criminal case has been initiated. The agency stated that the shot was fired during a daily conflict involving a military personnel. At the time of publication, no official statements from the authorities were available.
Feschtschenko was born in 1998. He began kettlebell lifting at the age of 12 and won several junior and adult championships in Russia and Europe, including the Russian junior and adult championships in 2017.
