In the eighth round of the Formula One season, Lando Norris of McLaren secured a victory in the Monaco Grand Prix, with Charles Leclerc of Ferrari finishing as the runner-up and Oscar Piastri of McLaren completing the podium.
The Monaco Grand Prix, known for its challenging track and limited overtaking opportunities, was largely shaped by strategic decisions. For the first time this season, the drivers were required to make two mandatory pit stops, which added an element of suspense to the race.
At the front of the pack, Norris’s strategy of minimizing pit stops ultimately led to a flag-to-flag victory. However, the mid-field saw more intriguing developments. Liam Lawson of Racing Bulls, for instance, slowed the pack down, allowing his teammate Isack Hadjar to complete his early pit stops without losing position. Hadjar’s early stop paid off, as he finished the race in sixth place. Similarly, the Williams duo adopted a similar approach, which yielded positive results.
The points-scoring positions behind the podium saw Max Verstappen of Red Bull, Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari, Hadjar, Esteban Ocon of Haas and Liam Lawson take the chequered flag. Alex Albon of Williams secured two points for the World Championship, while Carlos Sainz of Williams earned one point in tenth place. Nico Hülkenberg of Sauber, the only German driver, finished the race in 16th place. The next Grand Prix is scheduled to take place in Barcelona in a week’s time.
