Mona Neubaur's Bold Move

The deputy Prime Minister of NRW, Mona Neubaur, criticizes Trump’s stop for climate researchers. In an article for the “Rheinischen Post” (Tuesday edition), the climate protection minister said, “The decision of the US government under Donald Trump to end cooperation with hundreds of climate researchers is a devastating signal. Whoever silences science in the midst of escalating climate crisis not only acts ignorantly but dangerously. If ideology is more important than science, the world will lose.” The US government had previously ended cooperation with hundreds of researchers who had contributed to a comprehensive report on global warming. The minister now invites the researchers to NRW: “We have a large and strong research landscape in North Rhine-Westphalia, closely linked to the economy. Those who are hindered can find a scientific home in NRW, in Europe and will be taken seriously.” Neubaur (Green Party) said, “Trump has never understood that the climate crisis is not a matter of opinion – it is a reality. And it affects us all.” Instead of using the findings of leading scientists to secure the future for all of us, he relies on avoidance and disinformation. All the more important is it to live a counter-model in Europe.
