After 13 illustrious years, Croatian midfield maestro Luka Modrić has departed Real Madrid to join AC Milan. The Italian club officially announced the signing on Monday evening, confirming Modrić has committed to a contract running until June 30, 2026, with an option for a further year’s extension. He will wear the number 14 jersey for the Rossoneri.

Speaking to Real Madrid TV, Modrić reflected on his time in Madrid, expressing immense satisfaction despite the chapter’s closure. “To be the player who has won the most titles in the best club in football history is something impressive” he stated. “But it’s not just that; it’s also the affection of the people. That is something that will always remain with me, because no one can take that away.

Modrić’s professional journey began at the age of 16 with Dinamo Zagreb. He subsequently joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2008, where he featured in 159 matches and scored 17 goals. His transfer to Real Madrid followed in 2012, marking the start of a remarkably successful era. During his 13 seasons with the Spanish giants, Modrić recorded 43 goals in 597 appearances and amassed an unprecedented collection of titles, including six Champions League crowns, five Club World Cups, one Intercontinental Cup, five European Super Cups, four LaLiga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies and five Spanish Super Cups.
