Ministers Eye US Visit After Trump's Inauguration

EU Foreign Ministers to Visit Washington Amid Fears of US Policy Shift

Three top European Union foreign ministers are planning a joint trip to Washington, just weeks after Donald Trump’s inauguration, according to unnamed EU diplomats cited by Politico.

The idea behind the trip is to showcase European unity, a diplomat explained. The itinerary is still being finalized, and the exact date has not been set.

The visit, which could be accompanied by EU’s top diplomat Kaja Kallas, might feature German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot, and Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski.

Despite EU leaders expressing willingness to cooperate with the Trump administration, concerns are growing within the EU about potential US policies, such as trade tariffs, that could harm the bloc’s interests. Moreover, Trump’s threat to annex Greenland, a resource-rich autonomous Danish territory and a NATO member, has raised alarm, Politico reports.
