Mini-Jobs: Stagnant, But Not Dead Yet?

According to the first-quarter report of the Minijob-Zentrale, the number of minijobbers remained nearly at the same level as the previous year at the start of the year. As of March 31, 2025, the Minijob-Zentrale reported a total of 6,854,676 minijobbers, with 6,597,111 in the commercial sector and 257,565 in private households. Compared to the previous year, the figure saw a slight increase of 0.2 percent.

The number of part-time workers in private households is currently showing a slight decline. Since December 2024, the number of reported household helpers has decreased by 1.1 percent.

The commercial sector with the most minijobbers is the “Retail and Vehicle Maintenance and Repair” industry, with 1,143,347 part-time workers.
