In a surprising move, Left Party co-chair Sahra Wagenknecht has welcomed the CDU’s initiative to table new proposals on migration and security policy in the Bundestag before the federal election. “If the Union submits sensible proposals to the German Bundestag to end uncontrolled migration and to repatriate those required to leave, then we will, of course, support them”Wagenknecht told the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (Saturday editions).
“We have always demanded that the necessary decisions for our country be taken before the election and find it impossible and unbelievable if Friedrich Merz puts the citizens on hold until after the next government formation”she stated. “The Union should deliver, the country needs a 180-degree turn in migration and more internal security now.”
According to a report by the Spiegel, the CDU’s parliamentary group plans to table its demands as proposals in the Bundestag next week, seemingly willing to accept support from the AfD in the process.
