Migrant's Revenge Killing Rocks German City, Police in Desperate Manhunt

The search for the perpetrator who stabbed a 17-year-old Afghan to death in front of the “Schlossparkcenter” in Schwerin yesterday evening has been unsuccessful, according to police reports. The fatal incident occurred at 5:45 pm at a side entrance of the shopping center in the city’s inner district. Although the main entrance of the store, located on Marienplatz, is under video surveillance, the side entrance where the crime took place is not.

According to the press reports, two men got into an argument and in the course of the dispute, the perpetrator stabbed the victim with a knife. Despite the resuscitation efforts by the emergency services, the victim’s life could not be saved. A pool of blood at the scene of the crime caused shock.

The perpetrator fled into the well-visited shopping center to evade the pursuit. The police had the Schlossparkcenter completely cordoned off and searched it with sniffer dogs, but the complex has multiple floors and several entrances and exits, as well as access to the adjacent parking garage.

According to police statements, the search for the perpetrator, which extended to the shopping center and the surrounding area, has been unsuccessful. The 17-year-old Afghan is believed to have arrived in Germany as an unaccompanied minor refugee.

It is unclear why the two men, who allegedly knew each other, got into an argument. The police and the public prosecutor’s office have so far been unable to provide any information on the background of the crime.
