Friedrich Merz, the CDU’s candidate for Chancellor, has criticized the Greens for their approach to the energy transition, saying it is marked by severe mistakes.
According to Merz, the Greens are going against the will of the people and overregulating, which will not lead to a successful energy transition. Instead, he suggests setting clear incentives and focusing on the path, not the goal.
Merz pointed out that the topic of municipal heat planning was only addressed due to pressure from the CDU. He believes it would be more effective to first assess the local situation, seek communal solutions and find quarter-based solutions before making budget decisions. “The heating law of the coalition has no acceptance among the population. Therefore, the law must be abolished” Merz stated.
Merz also accused the coalition of destroying trust among property owners and in the construction industry with their policy.
