Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz (CDU) had another phone conversation with US President Donald Trump and the heads of state and government of France, the United Kingdom and Italy on Sunday evening. The discussion focused on the situation in Ukraine and the upcoming telephone conversation between the US and Russian presidents. According to German government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius, the exchange will continue immediately after the planned Monday meeting between Trump and Putin. Further details were not immediately available.
Earlier this week, the group had a phone conversation with the US President and the European Political Community meeting in Tirana saw the German Chancellor sitting alongside the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of France Emmanuel Macron and the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer around the telephone.
