Merkel to Speak at Research Ministry Event

Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel is scheduled to make a rare public appearance at an event hosted by a member of the current opposition leadership According to a report in “Welt am Sonntag” Merkel will open an exhibition at the Federal Ministry for Research on September 16th, an event organized by Minister Dorothee Bär of the Christian Social Union (CSU)

The exhibition, titled “Missed Images” will feature the work of science photographer Gesine Born Born utilizes artificial intelligence to reconstruct images of female scientists whose achievements were historically attributed to their male colleagues Existing portraits are digitally altered to visually incorporate and acknowledge the often-overlooked scientific contributions of these women

Sources within the Ministry state that Minister Bär personally extended an invitation to the former Chancellor and Dr Merkel, a trained physicist, readily accepted and will deliver remarks at the opening reception
