Malkin's Millions in Heist

Over the weekend, a break-in occurred at the Pittsburgh home of Russian NHL star Evgeni Malkin. The 38-year-old, who has played for the Pittsburgh Penguins since 2006, confirmed the incident in a statement. According to reports, the thieves entered his home through the back door, disabled the alarm system, and stole three valuable Stanley Cup rings. The rings, awarded to Malkin for the Penguins’ championship wins in 2009, 2016, and 2017, are among the most prized possessions for any hockey player. It is unclear if any other items were taken, as the investigation is ongoing.

Malkin spoke to Matsch TV, stating, “The report about the break-in at my home is not a fake, but I cannot provide more details. It’s being investigated.” The Pittsburgh Penguins also released a statement, emphasizing their cooperation with local authorities and their respect for the player’s privacy.

This incident is part of a series of break-ins targeting prominent athletes in the United States, including NFL and NBA stars like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Luka Dončić. According to reports, the FBI has issued security warnings to the respective leagues to protect the athletes from organized criminal groups.

Malkin, who has lived in Sewickley Heights, a suburb of Pittsburgh, for several years, was not at home at the time of the break-in. His parents, who come from Magnitogorsk, Russia, regularly visit the house when they come to the United States.

As one of the most successful players of his generation, Malkin has won the Stanley Cup three times with the Penguins and has won gold medals with the Russian national team at two World Championships. Off the ice, he is involved in various social and charitable projects.
