Magdeburg's Kaars Kicks Schalke to the Ground in 5-2 Thrashing!

Magdeburg secured a convincing 5-2 win over Schalke in the German second division on Saturday evening. The Magdeburg forward, Martijn Kaars, was the star of the show, netting four of the five goals in the 29th, 45+2, 56th and 74th minutes, with Philipp Hercher adding a fifth in the 65th minute.

Schalke managed to get on the scoresheet through Adrian Gantenbein in the 69th minute and a late consolation goal was scored by the substitute Janik Bachmann in the third minute of stoppage time.

Despite the loss, the Schalke fans did not jeer the team and instead, the Magdeburg players did not seem overly enthusiastic either. Both teams are now focused on their next objectives, with Schalke’s chances of catching up now put on hold, at least for the time being.

Schalke remains in 13th place, while Magdeburg temporarily moves up to second, pending the result of Hamburg’s match on Sunday, which could potentially see the latter team reclaim the spot.
