Berlin-based political scientist Hajo Funke has expressed support for the intention to ban the right-wing extremist magazine “Compact”, citing its ideological and strategic alignment with extreme and aggressive right-wing groups and its opposition to the fundamental democratic order.
In an interview with the Rheinische Post, Funke stated that the magazine, conceived and dominated by Jürgen Elsässer, is clearly designed to promote a right-wing revolutionary concept and systematically seeks to establish connections with the former “Flügel”, a group of ideologically, extremist and racist individuals, who form the core of the Alternative for Germany (AfD). According to Funke, this justifies the intention to ban the magazine.
