Macron & Starmer Unite to Deploy Troops to Ukraine?

France’s President Emmanuel Macron announces a Franco-British mission in Ukraine. Britain and France will send military delegations to Ukraine to work closely with Ukrainian partners, according to reports.

Emmanuel Macron stated that both countries will task their defense chiefs to ensure that a Franco-British team will be sent to Ukraine in the coming days, which will work very closely with our Ukrainian partners.

The plans will focus on preparing the format of Ukraine’s armed forces. The French President also explained that European foreign ministers have three weeks to develop plans for monitoring a future ceasefire.

Macron has also stated that Europe will send troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping force, “with or without the US”.

The French President further elaborated that Washington remains a “reliable ally”, but the securing of future peace cannot depend solely on the US.

Macron explained that troops from “several member states” will be stationed in “strategic areas” and not along the frontline. However, he added that not all European state and government leaders agree with this plan.

In the French capital Paris, representatives of around 30 states, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, will meet at a “Coalition of the Willing” to discuss further support for Ukraine, with themes to include possible security guarantees in the event of a ceasefire in Ukraine.
