In the wake of the knife attack at the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin a week ago, the justice system has taken further steps. According to the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, an arrest warrant was issued by the judge of the Federal Court of Justice against the suspected perpetrator. The Federal Public Prosecutor is investigating the case on charges of attempted murder.
In the attack last Friday, a Spanish tourist was seriously injured. The Federal Public Prosecutor took over the case on Monday. Investigators believe the attack was motivated by Islamic extremism. On Tuesday, the Federal Commissioner for the Victims of Terror was also involved, to support the victim and the witnesses.
