The man arrested in October on suspicion of plotting an attack against the Israeli embassy in Berlin appears to be back on the streets.
The suspicion of an attack apparently did not concretize, according to a report by Spiegel, citing its own information. The Federal Court of Justice’s arrest warrant against the man was reportedly lifted last week. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office told the magazine in response to a query that, as of the current state of the investigation, the urgent suspicion against him could no longer be maintained.
The man had come under the scrutiny of investigators because he allegedly revealed his attack plans in a chat. He reportedly exchanged his plans with a member of the Islamic State (IS) terror organization, it was said at the time.
According to Spiegel’s information, he denied the accusations directly after his arrest. He might be a case of mistaken identity, he is said to have claimed. The case had sparked international attention. The investigation against him continues despite his release.
