Left Party Plans Gaza Protest in Berlin

Berlin is set to host multiple demonstrations on September 27th focusing on the situation in Gaza, with Die Linke (The Left Party) planning its own event distinct from the previously announced “All Eyes on Gaza – Stop the Genocide” rally organized by the Palestinian community and others.

Janis Ehling, federal executive director of Die Linke, confirmed to the “Rheinische Post” that the party’s demonstration will be part of a broader alliance coordinating complementary actions on the same day, with further details to be announced at a later date.

Party co-chair Ines Schwerdtner stated the intention is to organize a “very broad demonstration” spearheaded by an alliance where Palestinian and Jewish voices are central, rather than the party itself taking the lead. Schwerdtner emphasized a desire for diverse representation and a collaborative approach.

Regarding a separate Gaza demonstration scheduled for September 13th and organized by Sahra Wagenknecht, Schwerdtner indicated the party would not be participating. She characterized Wagenknecht’s initiative as a solo effort, stating Die Linke has developed its own strategies and is engaging a different range of constituents.
