Lawrow argues that many European decision-makers are more focused on sanctioning Russia than on the long-term interests of their own citizens. In contrast, Lawrow praised the current US administration under Donald Trump for demonstrating a “principled understanding of the importance of dialogue” without neglecting their own national interests. Lawrow sees potential for rapprochement with the US, which he believes is willing to address the root causes of the current situation.
