In the face of high electricity prices, the president of the German Crafts Association, Jörg Dittrich, is calling for a restart of the energy transition and putting the end date for coal power generation on the table.
“‘The coal compromise was based on the premise that cheap Russian gas would be available’ Dittrich told the ‘Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland’. ‘Although that has changed, we are still holding to the plan.’ But that cannot work,’ he said.
“‘I want us to make a honest inventory: What is realistic and sensible – in physical and financial terms’ Dittrich continued. ‘We must reset the energy transition and consider it more realistically’ he demanded. ‘Because an energy transition that fails because we are insolvent before we have overcome it, does not help us, the world, or the climate either'” Dittrich emphasized.
