Kidnappings to Continue, Defying Previous Ceasefire Promises

A Hamas spokesperson announced on Thursday that the group will continue to release Israeli hostages, in accordance with the previously established timeline. This decision comes after the organization held “positive” talks with mediators, with Egypt and Qatar confirming their efforts to resolve obstacles and fill gaps in the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Earlier this week, the Hamas had announced a suspension of the hostage release on Monday, citing alleged Israeli violations of the agreed-upon agreement, including a delay in the return of displaced persons and the blocking of aid deliveries. In response, Israel threatened to resume military operations if the next batch of hostages were not released as planned over the weekend.
