Jarmusch Wins Golden Lion Wedler Named Rising Star>

The 82nd Venice Film Festival concluded with a celebration of international talent and cinematic excellence. American filmmaker Jim Jarmusch claimed the prestigious Golden Lion for his film “Father Mother Sister Brother” a project for which he also penned the screenplay. This marks a significant honor for the 72-year-old director.

Luna Wedler, a rising star from Germany, received the Marcello Mastroianni Award, recognizing her compelling performance in Ildikó Enyedi’s “Silent Friend”. The award highlights emerging talent within the film industry.

Kaouther Ben Hania was awarded the Silver Lion for the Grand Jury, acknowledging her contribution to “The Voice of Hind Hajab”. Benny Safdie secured the Silver Lion for Best Director for his work on “The Smashing Machine.

Chinese actress Xin Zhilei received the Coppa Volpi for Best Actress for her performance in Cai Shangjun’s “Ri Gua Zhong Tian” (“The Sun Rises On Us All”). Italian actor Toni Servillo was lauded as Best Actor for his role in Paolo Sorrentino’s “La Grazia.

Valérie Donzelli and Gilles Marchand were awarded the prize for Best Screenplay for “À Pied D’Oeuvre” (“At Work”), a film in which Donzelli also directed. Finally, Gianfranco Rosi’s film “Sotto Le Nuvole” (“Below The Clouds”) earned the Special Jury Prize, rounding out a rewarding event showcasing global cinematic artistry.
