The 82nd Venice Film Festival concluded with a series of prestigious awards recognizing diverse cinematic achievements. American filmmaker Jim Jarmusch received the coveted Golden Lion for “Father Mother Sister Brother” a film for which he also penned the screenplay.
Switzerland also saw notable success at the festival, with Luna Wedler honored with the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor or Actress. Her performance in Ildikó Enyedi’s “Silent Friend” captivated the jury.
The Grand Jury Silver Lion was awarded to Kaouther Ben Hania for “The Voice of Hind Hajab” while Benny Safdie secured the award for Best Director for his work on “The Smashing Machine.
Xin Zhilei was recognized with the Coppa Volpi for Best Actress for her portrayal in Cai Shangjun’s Chinese film “Ri Gua Zhong Tian” (“The Sun Rises On Us All”). Toni Servillo received the Silver Lion for Best Actor for his performance in Paolo Sorrentino’s “La Grazia.
Valérie Donzelli and Gilles Marchand were jointly awarded the prize for Best Screenplay for “À Pied D’Oeuvre” (“At Work”), a film also directed by Donzelli.
Finally, Gianfranco Rosi’s “Sotto Le Nuvole” (“Below The Clouds”) received the Jury Special Prize.
