Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar has strongly refuted reports detailing allegedly poor conditions experienced by climate activist Greta Thunberg during a recent incident involving a pro-Palestinian flotilla. In remarks published Monday by German media outlets including Bild and other Axel Springer publications, Sa’ar questioned Thunberg’s credibility, characterizing her as a “fanatically anti-Israel activist.
The Minister asserted that Israel treated those involved in the flotilla with respect, emphasizing what he described as a non-violent apprehension of the vessels. He further suggested that no other nation would handle individuals with such hostile intentions as generously as Israel.
Sa’ar stated that the group had repeatedly been asked to deliver the humanitarian aid they claimed to be carrying via Cyprus or an Israeli port, but indicated their primary objective was to “discredit Israel”. The incident involved a fleet attempting to break the naval blockade of the Gaza Strip.
