Germany faces mounting pressure to address a concerning rise in left-wing antisemitism, according to Israel’s Ambassador to Germany, Ron Prosor, who has publicly called for stricter measures. In an interview with the Rheinische Post, Prosor highlighted a critical discrepancy in how authorities handle extremist ideologies, noting that decisive action is routinely taken against far-right groups due to their overt racism and violation of existing laws. However, he argues that individuals within the extreme left spectrum, who actively legitimize and subtly propagate Hamas ideology, are largely evading accountability.
Prosor expressed frustration with the perception that the state is currently powerless to counter this phenomenon. He criticized what he described as the misuse of freedom of expression, transforming it into a license for incitement. The ambassador specifically advocated for the expulsion of students found to be disseminating antisemitic rhetoric and threatening their peers, arguing that academic institutions have a responsibility to protect their communities from such behavior.
